Ponsa Mulik | Traditional GSB Jackfruit Fritters Recipe
Ponsa Mulik is a beloved traditional GSB (Gowda Saraswat Brahmin) and Konkani delicacy made during the jackfruit season. These crispy, golden fritters are naturally sweet, aromatic, and packed with the flavors of ripe jackfruit, coconut, and jaggery. Perfect as an evening snack with a hot cup of tea or coffee!
👩🍳 Ingredients:
• 1 cup rice (soaked)
• 1 cup ripe jackfruit
• ½ cup grated coconut
• ½ cup jaggery
• 1 tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp elaichi (cardamom) powder
• A pinch of salt
• Oil for deep frying
🥣 Method:
1. Soak the rice for 3–4 hours and drain.
2. Grind the rice, jackfruit, coconut, jaggery, turmeric powder, elaichi powder, and salt into a thick batter.
3. Do not add water while grinding. The batter should be thick and not runny.
4. Heat oil on a medium flame.
5. Shape the batter into small balls and gently drop them into the hot oil.
6. Deep fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides.
7. Remove and drain excess oil.
8. Serve hot and enjoy this traditional seasonal treat!
