Godu Appo/Sweet Paniyaram❤️
A Ganesh Chaturthi special dish✨️
Soft and flaky wheat appe ( Wheat flour Godu Appe) is an all time konkani favourite sweet delicacy. This is a simple quick recipe.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour – 1 Cup
Jaggery – 1 Cup
Grated Coconut – ½ cup
Fine Rava – ½ cup
Ripe bananas ( elaichi or mysore) – 2
Ghee – for frying
Cardamom powder – ½ – ¾ tsp
Salt – a pinch
Recipe:
Grind grated coconut with Jaggery, Ripe Banana pieces and a pinch of salt to a smooth paste without water. Transfer it to a bowl.
Add rava, wheat flour, cardamom powder in the ground paste. Mix well.
Add water if required to make the batter to a semi thick consistency.
Mix well and rest the batter aside for 15 minutes. Rava will absorb water so the batter will thicken. Add some water again for semi thick consistency like idli. Mix well.
Heat Appa kaili (paniyaram skillet- pan) and apply ghee. Mix the batter and pour it in the each cavity of the skillet with a spoon.
Cover and cook for 3-4 mins. Keep the heat to medium low flame.
Open the lid, apply ghee again, flip over the appo (which is golden brown on one side) to cook on the other side uncovered for 2-3
minutes.
Fry till they become golden brown on both the sides
Perfect soft tasty appos are ready.
