With Cyclone Montha, intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm over the southeast Bay of Bengal and projected to make landfall near Pithapuram-Tuni in Kakinada district between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam on the evening of October 28, 2025, bringing winds of 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph, extremely heavy rainfall, and squally conditions, the Andhra Pradesh government has ramped up preparedness, as In-Charge Minister Narayana, alongside District Collector S. Nagalakshmi, held a high-level review meeting with all department heads, appointing special officers for each mandal to ensure hourly monitoring, precautionary evacuations from coastal areas, strengthening of canal gates to avert flooding and crop damage, and urging residents to stay vigilant indoors, while emphasizing the administration’s readiness to tackle any eventuality amid no current distress but looming threats to Godavari and adjoining districts.
