GSB Konkani Special Chane Ghashi | Black Chana & Potato Curry | Authentic Konkani Recipe ❤️
Today I’m sharing a delicious and traditional GSB Konkani-style Chane Ghashi made with black chana (kala chana), potato, fresh coconut, and aromatic spices. 🥥🫘🥔✨
This comforting curry is full of authentic flavours and tastes absolutely delicious with rice! 🍚❤️ The freshly ground coconut masala and the final vagganne (tadka/tempering) make this recipe extra special. 😋

📝 Ingredients:
🫘 Black Chana (Kala Chana) – boiled
🥔 Potato – boiled
🌿 Coriander Seeds – 1 tablespoon
🌶️ Dry Red Chillies – around 7 (adjust according to your spice preference)
✨ Hing (Asafoetida) – a pinch
🫘 Urad Dal – 1 tablespoon
🌿 Methi (Menthe/Fenugreek seeds) – a little
💛 Turmeric – a pinch
🥥 Fresh Coconut
🍋 Tamarind – as required
🧂 Salt – to taste
🌶️ For Vagganne / Tempering:
✨ Mustard Seeds
🌿 Curry Leaves
🌶️ 1 Dry Red Chilli
👩🍳 Recipe:
First, boil the black chana and potato until they are nicely cooked. 🫘🥔
For the delicious Ghashi masala, roast the coriander seeds, dry red chillies, urad dal, a little methi, turmeric and hing. Grind them together with fresh coconut and tamarind into a smooth masala paste. 🥥✨
Now add this freshly ground masala to the boiled black chana and potato. Add salt and cook everything together until the flavours blend beautifully. 😍
Finally, prepare a traditional vagganne (ತಾಳಣೆ / ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ) with mustard seeds, curry leaves and one dry red chilli. Pour it over the Ghashi and enjoy the amazing aroma! ❤️✨
