DNA friends, today is the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Netaji had said that justice, equality, freedom, discipline, and cooperation should be the fundamental principles of our collective life. However, for the past few days, a debate has been raging in the country regarding equality. A rule of the University Grants Commission (UGC) is being described as being against equality.
DNA friends, the UGC has made a new rule regarding equality in higher education institutions. But the irony is that this rule, which is supposed to promote equality, is being called discriminatory. It is being described as detrimental to students from the general category. Students from the general category have demanded its withdrawal. Their ultimatum is about to expire in 72 hours.
DNA मित्रो, आज नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस का जन्मदिन है. नेताजी ने कहा था कि न्याय, समानता, स्वतंत्रता, अनुशासन और सहयोग हमारे सामूहिक जीवन के आधारभूत सिद्धांत होने चाहिए. लेकिन पिछले कुछ दिनों से समानता को लेकर देश में एक बहस छिड़ी हुई है. विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग यानी UGC के एक नियम को समानता के ख़िलाफ़ बताया जा रहा है.
DNA मित्रो, उच्च शिक्षा संस्थानों में समानता को लेकर UGC ने एक नया नियम बनाया है. लेकिन विडंबना ये है कि समानता वाले इस नियम को भेदभाव से भरा बताया जा रहा है. इसे सामान्य वर्ग के छात्रों के लिए नुकसानदेह कहा जा रहा है. सामान्य वर्ग के छात्रों ने इसे वापस लेने की मांग की है. उनका अल्टीमेटम 72 घंटे में ख़त्म होने वाला है.
