Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited New Delhi on a state visit. During this visit, he officially launched a new news channel in India called RT India. This channel is part of Russia’s state-funded international media network, Russia Today (RT). RT India started broadcasting from a studio in the Indian capital and is intended to provide English-language news focused on India-Russia relations and global developments. The launch was timed to coincide with talks between Putin and Indian leaders and reflects efforts by Russia to expand its media presence in India and South Asia. RT India has a team of over a hundred people and will produce regular news bulletins from its New Delhi base.
This move has drawn attention because it comes as part of broader diplomatic engagement between the two countries and highlights how media is also being used to shape narratives and strengthen bilateral ties.
