चुनाव आयोग के भीतर मतभेद और एसआईआर को लेकर उठ रहे सवालों के बीच आयोग ने प्रेस नोट जारी कर अपना पक्ष साफ किया है. आयोग ने कहा है कि वह संविधान तहत काम करता है. आयोग के मुताबिक वह एक बहु-सदस्यीय संवैधानिक संस्था है और उसके भीतर लिखित टिप्पणियां, सुझाव, तकनीकी राय और आंतरिक जांच-पड़ताल सामान्य प्रक्रिया का हिस्सा हैं. आयोग ने स्पष्ट किया कि उसकी सभी कार्रवाइयां कानून और आयोग के निर्देशों के मुताबिक की गई हैं.

It noted that it is a multi-member constitutional body, and that written comments, suggestions, technical opinions, and internal deliberations are part of its standard procedure. The Commission clarified that all its actions have been carried out in accordance with the law and its own directives.
