Satyanarayan pooja traditional Prasad/Naivedyam -Sapaath❤️✨️
Ingredients:
1¼ cup wheat semolina (sooji rava)
1¼ cup sugar
2-3 small ripe bananas chopped
1¼ cup ghee ( cow ghee preferred)
1¼ cups of milk
1¼ cups water
A handful of
Cashews,almonds cut into small pieces
A few raisins
Cardamom powder – 1 spn
Recipe:
Heat 1 spn ghee in a big pan. Fry the cashews, almonds pieces and raisins in it until they turn light golden brown and keep aside.
Now add the remaining ghee to the same pan and add rava to it.
Saute and fry well, stirring continuously for 8-10 minutes on medium heat.
Rava colour changes to creamy and aroma spreads. Once most of the rava appears roasted, add in roughly chopped ripe banana pieces and saute for 2-3 mins to remove the raw smell.
Now side by side in a big vessel add milk and water and heat it till it comes to a boil.Switch off the gas.
Pour this water and milk mixture in the ghee, rava and banana pieces. Carefully pour this in small quantities everytime and stir. There should be no lumps.
Once all the milk and water mixture has been poured. Continue to stir for a few minutes ,and cover it with lid on a low flame for 2-3 minutes so that the rava is cooked nicely and the banana pieces blend well in it..
Make sure the rava is cooked well, then add in sugar, mix well.
All the sugar will dissolve, the rawa will become loose. cook it for a minute. The mixture will look little watery and soft when it is very hot. It will become dry when stirred continuously.
Add cardamom powder and roasted dry fruits and raisins and mix well. Cover the pan and steam it for 1-2 minutes.
Our traditional Satyanarayan prasad or sapaath as called in konkani is ready for offering as naivedya.
Note: 1.If you want to skip water, you have to put additional milk in the same quantity.
i.e if you want to skip 1¼ water, add 1¼ milk more in place of water , so the quantity of milk will be 2½ cups in the above recipe
2. Whatever quantity of ingredients you choose, measurement for each basic ingredient should be the same for all
3. You can add kesar ( saffron ) too.
You have to soak kesar in little milk for a few minutes and add after the dry fruits in the recipe
