Ingredients
1 cup whole green gram (moong), washed and soaked (optional for faster cooking)
1 tsp mustard seeds
2–3 green chilies, chopped
8–10 curry leaves
1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
Salt to taste
2 tsp sugar (or as per your taste)
Hot water as needed
½ cup grated fresh coconut
Recipe
Heat a kadhai and add mustard seeds.
Once they splutter, add chopped green chilies, curry leaves, and ginger. Sauté for a minute.
Add the washed moong and mix well.
Add salt, sugar, and enough hot water to cover the moong.
Bring it to a boil, cover with a lid, and cook for about 10 minutes.
Open the lid and check. If needed, add a little more hot water and continue cooking until the moong is soft and fluffy.
Add the grated coconut and mix well.
Your delicious Moong Dal Usli is ready.
Sweet Poha.
Melt jaggery in a little water, add grated coconut, and cook until slightly thick. Let it cool. Add crushed cardamom and poha and mix well. This is a wonderful breakfast combination and is also perfect during upavas.
