It contains two novels-perhaps Stokers second most famous tale, the horrifying and sinister, ‘The Lair of the White Worm’ about a monster of incalculable horror and evil, and the remarkable novel, ‘The Jewel of the Seven Stars’-an often neglected classic of the genre. Stoker perhaps suffered from criticism for never having bettered his famous ‘Prince of the Vampires’ tale. This is unfair, because after all in Dracula he created a work that, perhaps, has become the benchmark by which all fiction of its kind is judged. Not surprisingly its author was more than qualified to mix more of the same toxic literary brew for his audience. These are great stories and this volume is completed by three shorter pieces, ‘The Bridal of Death, ‘ ‘At Last, ‘ and ‘The Judges House.’ Available as softcover and good quality hardback with dust jacket.

மாமன் நடத்தும் பாடத்தில் – இக்கதை ஒரு அன்லிமிடெட் ரொமான்டிக் ஸ்டோரி
கதையோட டீசர் :-
“ஹேய்! யாழு உன்ன சேர்மன் சார் கூப்பிடுறாருடி” என்று கூறிவிட்டுச் சென்ற கணிதப் பேராசிரியை கவிதாவை கடுப்போடுதான் பார்த்தாள் யாழினி.
தன் வகுப்பறையினை நோக்கி, “இதோ வந்துறேன் காய்ஸ்… நோட் பண்ணிட்டு இருங்க” என்று மாணவர்களிடம் உரைத்து விட்டு சேர்மனின் அறைநோக்கிச் சென்றவளுக்கு ஒருசேர படபடப்பும் வந்தது, அவன்தான் அழைத்திருப்பான், என்னை இம்சை பண்ணவே நாள்தோறும் கல்லூரி வருகிறான், கூடிய விரைவில் இங்கிருந்து பணிநீக்கம் செய்து வேறு கல்லூரிக்கு செல்லவேண்டும், ஆனால் விடுவானா என்று மனதுக்குள் அசைப் போட்டவாறு,
சேர்மன் அறையின் வாசலில் வந்து நின்ற யாழினியோ தன் புடவை சரியாக இருக்கிறதா என்பதை பரிசோதித்துக் கொண்டாள், இல்லையெனில் மில்லி மீட்டரளவு இடுப்பு தெரிந்தால்கூட, ‘எதுக்கு இது தெரியுது, யாரை மயக்க’ என பச்சையாக கேட்டு வைப்பான், அந்த வார்த்தைகளை காதுக் கொடுத்து கேட்க இயலாது, ஆகையால் புடவையினை சரிப்படுத்திவிட்டு கதவை திறந்து உள்ளேச் சென்றாள் யாழினி.
அங்கே முதலாளி இருக்கையில் ஸ்டேயிலாக அமர்ந்திருந்த மோகனேஷ்வரன்தானோ, “என்ன மேடம், சேர்மன் சாருக்கு குட் மார்னிங்லாம் தேடி வந்து சொல்ல மாட்டீங்களா” என எகத்தாளமாய் கேட்க,
தரையினைப் பார்த்தவாறே அவள், “எதார்த்தமா பார்த்தா குட் மார்னிங் சொல்லலாம் தேடி வந்தல்லாம் எதுக்கு சொல்லணும் சார்…” என்று கேட்டு வைக்க,
அவ்வளவுதான் இருக்கையிலிருந்து எழுந்து அவளின் மார்பு உரசும் நெருக்கம் வரையும் நெருங்கி வந்தவன், “என்ன கொழுப்பா” எனக் கேட்டான்.
“இ.. இல்ல.. சார்”
“நா உனக்கு சாரா” என்றுக் கேட்டவன் அவளின் மூச்சு காற்றை சுவாசிக்க, அவனின் அருகாமையில் பழைய நினைவுகள் கிளர்ந்தெழ யாழினி வேகமாய்,
“ஈஸ்வர், என்ன பண்ற… தள்ளிப் போ” என்றாள்.
“நா எதுக்குடி தள்ளி போகணும், நீ என்னோட முன்னாள் காதலி”
“நா உங்களுக்கு முன்னாள் காதலிதான்… ஆனா இப்போ நா இன்னொருத்தரோட மனைவி… என்கிட்ட நீங்க இவ்ளோ நெருக்கமா வர்றதே தப்பு, விலகிப் போங்க” என்று அவள் இதழ் தந்தியடிப்போடு கூற, அங்கே மோகனேஷ்வரன் நரநரவென மூரல்களை தேய்த்து கோபக் கடிய குரலில்,
“நீ இன்னொருத்தன் பொண்டாட்டியா இருந்தாலும் சரி, இப்டி பாவமா மூஞ்சியை வச்சு நடிச்சாலும் சரி, என்ன காதலிச்சு ஏமாத்தி துரோகம் பண்ணி இருக்க, உன்ன விடமாட்டேன், இந்த ஈஸ்வர் அவ்வளவு சீக்கிரத்துல உன்ன விட மாட்டான்டி… இதுக்கு அப்புறம் தான் கேமே ஸ்டார்ட் ஆகுது, பீ ரெடி பேபி” என அவள் தோள்களை தட்டினான்.
அதில் ஆடிப்போனவளாக அவனை பயத்தோடு பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தாள் யாழினி.
