After a tense ten-day standoff, Pakistan have withdrawn their boycott of the India match at the T20 World Cup 2026. Following high-level meetings involving the International Cricket Council, Pakistan Cricket Board, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the Pakistan government confirmed that the blockbuster clash will go ahead.
The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan group match — the commercial centerpiece of the tournament — is now scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. Several ICC member nations, including Sri Lanka and the UAE, reportedly urged Pakistan not to boycott the fixture, citing the financial and tournament-wide impact. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held direct talks with Sri Lankan President Kumara Dissanayake before the final decision was taken.
