I travel for work.
Cheap motels. Same routine.
But one night, the clerk hesitated before handing me a key.
Room 317.
The hallway lights flickered.
The carpet felt damp beneath my feet.
The air smelled ancient… like breath trapped for decades.
Inside, the TV was already on. Static.
Then I saw it — a woman’s reflection standing behind me.
But the room was empty.
When the phone rang, a voice whispered:
“You stayed here before.”
I told her she was wrong.
She laughed.
“You died here. You just don’t remember yet.”
The lights went out.
Something lay down beside me.
Cold fingers wrapped around my wrist.
The TV turned back on…
