A woman refuses to remarry after the death of her husband. Instead, she has a clay image made in his likeness and continues to set meat and wine before it, as though he were still there.
Then, one night, the clay image begins to move.
The Clay Image (土偶) is a short supernatural tale by Chinese writer Pu Songling, adapted for spoken narration from Herbert A. Giles’s 1880 English translation.
A strange story of grief, devotion, and the impossible return of someone lost. Not every supernatural encounter is a tale of terror. Some are quieter, stranger, and harder to explain.
