The Indian Tarots – Beginner’s Edition is the complete 78-card tarot deck rooted in Indian mythology and art, now redesigned specifically for those who are new to tarot reading. The biggest challenge for beginners is card memorisation. This deck solves it by printing the upright and reversed keywords directly on each card — so you can read intuitively from day one without constantly flipping through a guidebook. The 22 Major Arcana map classic tarot archetypes to Hindu deities: The Fool becomes a young wanderer in the Indian subcontinent, The Emperor becomes a Raaja seated on his throne, The Chariot becomes Ganesha. Each placement is intentional and rooted in the mythology and qualities of the deity. The 56 Minor Arcana are hand-painted across four art traditions — Pattachitra (Odisha), Kangra Pahari (Himachal), Mewar Miniature (Rajasthan), and South Indian temple art — one style per suit, one direction of India per suit. Every card tells a story from Indian everyday life, nature, and landscape. This is not a novelty deck. It is a fully functional, Rider-Waite-compatible tarot deck that you can use for learning, daily draws, spreads, and readings — while feeling connected to Indian culture and tradition.
BEGINNER-FRIENDLY KEYWORDS ON EVERY CARD – Each of the 78 cards has upright and reversed keywords printed directly on the card face — no memorisation required, no separate cheat sheet needed. Perfect for first-time readers and anyone learning tarot from scratch.
UNIQUELY INDIAN ART – The 22 Major Arcana feature Hindu deities in vibrant digital illustrations (Ganesha as The Chariot, Kali as The Empress, Hanuman as Strength, and more). The 56 Minor Arcana are hand-painted in traditional Indian art styles — Pattachitra, Miniature, Kangra Pahari — depicting landscapes and cultures of different Indian regions.
RIDER-WAITE COMPATIBLE – Card compositions and elemental symbolism mirror the classic Rider-Waite deck. Use any standard Rider-Waite guidebook alongside this deck. The four suits map to four directions of India with culturally rooted imagery.
