पुरी की पवित्र नगरी में एक गरीब परिवार रहता था जो पूरे प्रेम से Jagannath को भोग लगाना चाहता था। घर में खाने को कुछ भी नहीं था, फिर भी उन्होंने सच्चे प्रेम से केवल पानी अर्पित किया। भगवान उनके प्रेम से इतने प्रसन्न हुए कि अगले ही दिन उनके घर चमत्कार हो गया।
इस कहानी का संदेश यही है—
भगवान को धन-दौलत नहीं, सच्चा प्रेम और श्रद्धा चाहिए।
